Adult Martial Arts

About the class
The Adult Martial Arts program blends elements of Ninjutsu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Aiki Jutsu, Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do, Free Style Wrestling, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Arnis. The program incorporates the best of all these arts to create a well rounded skill set appropriate for self defense and development. Included in our program is a very popular coach’s corner where Sensei Tom teaches elements of history, language, art, and life skills. It’s our mission to not only develop a student’s “hard” skills but to give them a head start on their “life” skills development also. Student who are interested in either pure Ninjutsu OR Arnis attend the electives for those classes. In the electives class only those arts are taught.
The class runs from Monday/Tuesday/Thursday (closed for holidays) from 630-830pm. Students are required to attend a minimum of 4 classes per month but are encouraged to come as much as they’d like. Testing is every 3 months and is student driven.

Elective #1, Ninjutsu

There have been many myths and stories propagated throughout the ages regarding Japan’s most mysterious warriors, the Ninja.  Our Ninjutsu program is available for anyone to attend ages 14+ regardless of skill or fitness level and dispels movie myths to uncover one of the most effective martial arts systems in the world.

Ninjutsu training offers students a chance to learn a tradition that has thousands of years of history and material in it with an unbroken, recorded lineage for 34 generations.  Training includes principles of body movement, precision striking and pressure point control, traditional Japanese Ju Jutsu, traditional weaponry such as Katana, stick, staff, throwing weapons, and chain weapons, philosophy, tactics, and mind set.  At FTS we include  modern self protection into this class as well and explore modern weapons such as knife and firearms, ground fighting, and how to integrate thousands of years worth of history and tactics into modern living.  Classes include a skills component, sparring, and fitness.

Elective #2, Arnis

Arnis Kali Eskrima are different systems of Filipino martial arts (commonly referred to as FMA).  FMA techniques and concepts are often thought of as only stick and knife fighting but also include empty hand striking, empty hand grappling, multiple opponent fighting, ground fighting, and healthy living and fitness.

These high energy classes are excellent for beginners and experienced martial arts alike and can add a new dynamic to already existing skills or be completely developed as it’s own martial arts skill beginning to end.

Elective #3, Sparring

Sparring is an essential part of training.  It allows for the opportunity to experiment with techniques on a moving opponent, to try strategy, and teaches how to get hit and avoid getting hit.  Our sparring class incorporates all of our adult material empty handed as well as armed.

These high energy classes are excellent for beginners and experienced martial arts alike and can add a new dynamic to already existing skills or be completely developed as it’s own martial arts skill beginning to end.
